Receiving Applications for School Board Vacancy

A vacancy exists on the City School Board of Fredericksburg as of July 13, 2016, in an at-large seat of Fredericksburg City. Qualified voters of Fredericksburg who may be interested in seeking appointment for the position are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must submit a Statement of Interest, not to exceed 300 words, and a resume to the Clerk of the Board no later than 5:00 PM on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

All application materials submitted will be made available to the public on the Fredericksburg City School Board website by Wednesday, July 29, 2026, and will remain available until the appointment is made. To protect applicant privacy, addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses will be redacted before posting.

Applicants will be offered an opportunity to address the School Board for three minutes during a Special Meeting on August 3, 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

The School Board anticipates reviewing applications and will receive public comments during a Public Hearing in the special meeting on August 3, 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m. The meeting will convene in the School Board's offices, 210 Ferdinand Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401. The School Board will make the appointment at a special meeting on August 17, 2026.
