Breakfast Buddies

We are excited to continue the initiative “Breakfast Buddies” at both Hugh Mercer Elementary School and Lafayette Upper Elementary School. If you are not familiar with it, this program encourages community members to be paired with a student and to have breakfast together on a regular basis.  The intent is to develop a meaningful relationship that could positively impact the student for the rest of their lives!

To be a participant/mentor in this program we request that you make a commitment of at least one semester to this student.  We understand that changes will be necessary due to Covid-19 regulations and the plan for opening schools this year. Your guidance will come from the individual responsible for Breakfast Buddies at the individual schools.  We still wanted to provide you with our suggestions for when we do return to the buildings during this school year.

The time commitment would mean you would eat breakfast (approximately 30 minutes) with your assigned student on a schedule, either on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. The meals would be free of charge, and we ask that you sign in each time to receive a visitor’s badge.

As a thank you, with your permission, we will list the names of the individuals and/or businesses that participate in our principal’s newsletters and on our website!

We hope that you will consider being part of this program. If you are interested and would consider making a difference in a child’s life, please contact the staff members listed below at the school of your choice.

Thank you for your consideration in this opportunity to partner with our FCPS students and families.
