This summer, five incredible students from James Monroe kicked off the new PROGRESS internship program, gaining hands-on work experience! The students were recently recognized at the October School Board meeting. Here’s a look at what they accomplished:
Jaidan Pressley kept our gym in top shape, working alongside the custodial team. Darius Wilson and Christian Ienco worked on programming and repairing laptops, gaining valuable tech skills. Grace McGirr took charge of delivering mail and helping around the school. Isobel Hornung explored the heart of the school, assisting in the library.
The six-week paid internship, created for students with IEPs or 504 plans, provided real-life skills and growth opportunities right here on campus. A big thank you to VCU-RRTC and the Virginia Tribal Education Consortium for supporting this fantastic initiative!
Here’s to these students building a bright future!
