Our Instructional Coach, Mrs. Scarlett Walker, visited with the Women's Club of Fredericksburg yesterday and received a donation of 127 books to help build our student's library at home and at school. Ms. Walker shared with the Women's Club about what we do at Preschool Programs and other ways people can get involved with the school and how to volunteer. Thank you so much to the Women's Club of Fredericksburg for always being a part of our program and finding ways to donate! We look forward to doing the Pinwheel Project with them later in the Spring!

🌟 Meet Ms. Massey, Our Amazing School Social Worker and Mental Health Taskforce Co-Chair! 🌟
Ms. Massey says she chose social work because, “I knew I wanted to help people, and social work allows me to support not just individuals, but their entire network. My passion for school social work comes from working directly with students — it’s truly my favorite part of the job!” 💙
She believes mental health is critical, especially in schools. Our students deserve to feel safe both mentally and physically every single day. When they feel supported, they can thrive and truly enjoy their time as students. 🧠💪
Fun Fact: Ms. Massey is a huge fan of college basketball, especially the Virginia Cavaliers! 🏀

Fredericksburg City Public Schools will be closed Thursday, January 9 due to poor road conditions and low temperatures that continue to maintain icy travels. While our maintenance department has been hard at work to clear parking lots and sidewalks, some of these remain questionable due to melting and expected refreezing. There are roads in the surrounding area that remain in poor condition making travel difficult if not hazardous.
Essential workers should report at 8AM.
12-month employees should report at 10AM.
Teachers and certificated employees (not 12-month) will have a flexible workday on Thursday and may either work remotely or work at the school building beginning at 10AM.
Anyone who reports should be cautious and take great care while both driving and entering buildings. Safety is always a number one concern.
