#Tigers, we hope you're all enjoying this beautiful Spring Break! We miss you, and look forward to seeing you wonderful cubs at the start of next week 🖤. Remember to rest and relax like our beautiful Tiger above. You deserve it! 🐯

#Reminiscing on last week when our brilliant scientists from Mrs. Hein's classes facilitated the radar lab with the FPD! Students took turns testing the equipment, working alongside officers to conduct speed testing and more. We are super proud of them, and thankful to the FPD. 🐅

Yesterday, our students kicked off #SpringBreak with an Easter Egg Hunt 🐣! It was exhilarating, and a great way to transition into this upcoming week of fun and relaxation. S/o to the tigers!!! You're the BEST 🐯

Some more wonderful memories from our field trip yesterday! We are so proud of our esteemed tigers 🐯🔥🖤

Yesterday, our wonderful Spanish students got to eat at Mi Rancho and put their Spanish-speaking skills to the test, all while celebrating Hispanic culture! How incredible are they!?

Tigers Come Up Just Short in Nail-Biter ⚾️
The WG Tiger baseball team battled Prospect Heights in a thriller tonight, falling just short in a 6–4 contest that came down to the wire.
On the mound, Shariar "Rocket" Raheemi was absolutely locked in—delivering an excellent performance that kept the Tigers right in the fight from start to finish. 🚀🔥
Offensively, the bats started showing signs of life as this young squad continues to find its rhythm. The pieces are coming together, and the focus remains sharp: continuing to lock in the fundamentals, rep by rep, day by day.

Walker Grant Baseball and Softball teams – Season Openers in the Books ⚾️
The 🐯 Tigers kicked off their Spring seasons last Thursday against KGMS. While the scoreboard didn’t fall our way for either game, these young ballers took important steps forward — building chemistry, shaking off the first-game nerves, and earning valuable reps that will pay off down the road.
Proud of the effort, the focus, and most of all, the wonderful sportsmanship shown on the field. That’s the kind of foundation that wins in the long run.
On to the next one! 💪 #BuildingTheFuture #TigerTeamwork

FCPS Welcomes Acors as New Mental Health and Safety Coordinator
During its March 2, 2026, meeting, the Fredericksburg City School Board approved the appointment of Tiffany Acors as Mental Health and Safety Coordinator.
Acors most recently served with Spotsylvania County Public Schools as Director of School Counseling, where she led school counseling student-based mental health teams, implemented school-wide support programs, and developed and monitored a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with state and national standards.
Her previous experience includes serving as a School Counselor for Northumberland County Public Schools and an English and Theater teacher with Richmond County Public Schools, where she focused on building strong relationships with students while supporting both academic and social development.
Acors holds a Master of Education in School Counseling from Liberty University, a Master of Education as a Reading Program Specialist (PreK-12) from Liberty University, and a Bachelor of Science in Education, English 7-12 from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
“I am committed to fostering a safe and responsive learning environment that promotes a positive climate and student well-being,” said Acors.
Superintendent Dr. Marci Catlett emphasized the importance of the role in supporting students and staff across the division.
“Positions like Mental Health and Safety Coordinator are essential to the well-being of our school communities,” said Dr. Catlett. “Ms. Acors brings both the professional expertise and the compassionate leadership needed to support students, staff, and families. Her work will help ensure that our schools remain safe, responsive environments where every child can learn, grow, and thrive.”
Fredericksburg City Public Schools looks forward to the leadership and experience Ms. Acors brings to this important role and proudly welcomes her to the FCPS community.

On March 18th, members of the WGMS Criminal Justice Club got an in-depth look at the Fredericksburg Police Drone team! Here are some recaps 😉🖤

This week, our WGMS Junior Chefs made crepes. They mastered the technique of pouring the thin batter into a perfectly heated pan and flipping each crepe without tearing it, creating a delicate, paper-thin, scrumptious treat. ❤️ We are so proud of them!

Yesterday, our wonderful Dr. Frye ran small math groups for our 6th graders in preparation of benchmark testing and SOLs! Go Tigers 🐯

Reminder to FCPS families: Schools will be closed on Friday, March 20.

Fredericksburg City Public Schools will be closed on Monday, March 16, to students and staff.
12-month employees will complete flexible hours by either working remotely or at the worksite.
All buildings will close at noon, March 16. All afterschool activities are canceled.
Essential personnel should contact their supervisor for report times.
The reason for the closure is a severe weather system expected to move through our region tomorrow.
To support families, free meals will be available for pick up at each school from 10 AM to 12 PM.
Thank you for your continued partnership and help keeping our students and staff safe.

Ms. Schneider and Ms. Rahn’s 6th grade Advanced English students wrapped up their Space Case novel unit with a student-led mock trial to convict or acquit the defendant Garth Grisan. Students constructed witness statements, gathered video evidence, and delivered opening and closing arguments, even consulting with lawyers from the public defenders’ office beforehand. It was project-based learning at its finest, showcasing real collaboration, critical thinking, and problem solving in action! A huge thank you to our guest judges, including Dr. Avington, and the 8th grade volunteers who served on the jury!
