
The Superintendent’s Summer Scholar program concluded today. Approximately 75 family guests and visitors enjoyed a showcase of student work, a video of group experience highlights, and light refreshments. The enrichment and exploratory program is in its 29th year with over 200 students participating.

Summer Scholars were able to enjoy perfect summer weather at Braehead Farm! They learned about the animals, why bees are so important, and locally grown crops.





Water Play! 💦💦💦
Kindergarteners and 1st graders enjoyed Water Day! They played games from duck, duck, goose, to having a water balloon fight and a bunch of other stations in between.





🎳Bowling was right up the alley for 2nd & 3rd grade Summer Scholars students.

Effective this school year, the start time for Hugh Mercer and Lafayette will be at 8:20 AM. Students arriving after 8:20 AM will be marked tardy.
As usual, doors open at 8:00 AM to access the building.
The 3:15 PM dismissal will not change.


Kindergarten Summer Scholars learned about the planets and the different shapes of the moon. They read a book about planets, made planets of their own out of coffee filters and markets. Students learned about the different shapes of the moon and used Oreo cookies to help.

Summer Scholars enjoyed a trip to Luray Caverns! They saw some amazing rock formations under their feet! Read a Nonfiction book about different rocks and minerals. They are patiently waiting to see if their crystals grew. They used hot water, borax and pipe cleaners.
