Find the Good in Every Day!
Positive thinking can have many impacts on your mental health. Research shows that when we focus on the good, we are able to better cope with everyday challenges. Take a few minutes each day next week to focus on the positive.
Monday- Make a list of 5 things you are grateful for today.
Tuesday- Practice positive self-talk.
Wednesday- Start a conversation about mental health. Need an example of where to start, ask your family "Has anything happened recently that made you feel happy, sad, or worried?"
Thursday- Drink some water! Our bodies are made up mostly of water and it is vital to keep us hydrated and healthy.
Friday- Take a break from screens (cell phones, computers, TV's, etc.). Enjoy fresh air or play a game as a family!

REMINDER: There is no school for students Monday, May 13, 2024.

Planning for Three Elementary Schools

Today was an incredible day at James Monroe High School as we joined in National Bike, Walk, and Roll to School Day! This nationwide event, started in 2009, is part of The League of American Bicyclists’ National Bike Month, aiming to promote safer streets, reduced congestion, community unity, and enhanced accessibility for all.
Studies consistently show that communities with higher rates of walking and rolling tend to experience lower crash rates for all modes of travel. This is likely due to the heightened awareness of motorists who expect to encounter pedestrians and cyclists.
We're proud to be a part of this movement towards safer streets and a stronger sense of community. Let's keep rolling towards a brighter, safer future together! #NationalBikeWalkRoll #CommunityUnity #SaferStreets #JM

Just 15 days left until graduation, seniors! Let's give a big shoutout to Senior Oswill Joseph López Ortega! Oswill's journey to the U.S. from Honduras at the age of 13 was a brave step into the unknown, but he faced every challenge with determination and resilience! Despite the language barrier, Oswill conquered English and adapted to his new country, culture, and community.
For the past 4 years, Oswill has been a shining star on our school's soccer team, and this year, he proudly serves as one of the captains! But that's not all - Oswill's passion for music shines bright as he loves to sing and listen to music in his free time! He can also add Prom King to his JM memories.
Next up on his journey, Oswill plans to attend Germanna Community College to study mechanical engineering - we can't wait to see him excel in this field! Let's celebrate Oswill's achievements and wish him all the best in his future endeavors! #CountdownToGraduation #SeniorSpotlight #FutureMechanicalEngineer
