Dear Patriots—
This is an important message from Dr. Brenda Russ, Principal of Hugh Mercer Elementary School. I hope everyone's had a great weekend. Wow, can you believe we close out April this week? You know what that means... we are getting closer to SOL tests, end of year assessments, and events!
Here are the updates for this week:
We will host our 1st Annual SOL Pep Rally for Grades 3-5 tomorrow, Monday, April 27th at 1:30 PM. We look forward to having our K-2nd graders cheer on our Grades 3-5 students. A HUGE THANK YOU to Mr. Griffin and Mrs. Silver for their support in making this happen for our students!
5th graders begin their SOLs this week!
We are still collecting snack donations to give to our students on SOL testing days! SOL testing days could be long and taxing. Help us make sure every student has a snack. Refer to flyer: SOL Snacks Donations Flyer- 2026
As shared previously, we are seeing an uptick in unsafe and unruly behaviors that do not align with our Patriots' Core Values. Help us reinforce the Patriots' Core Values (perseverance, achievement, tenacity, respect, integrity, optimism, teamwork, and safety) at home. Students who engage in behaviors that violate the Student Code of Conduct, will receive consequences. School is a place of learning and growing.
