Good evening, Hugh Mercer Families,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and had the chance to enjoy the beautiful weather. It's hard to believe, but this is the final Principal Update for the 2024-25 school year.
I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to each of you. It has been an absolute honor to serve as your interim principal over the past three and a half months. I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know the amazing Hugh Mercer students and families. It’s been a joyful and rewarding experience.
As we look ahead, change is on the horizon. Some students will remain at Hugh Mercer, others will be heading to Lafayette or Gladys West Elementary, and our incredible fifth graders will begin their next chapter at Walker-Grant Middle School. While our locations may differ, one thing remains the same: we are one FCPS family. I look forward to continuing to work together as a united community, always striving to provide the best for our students.
I could not be more proud of our students and their hard work this year. Their growth, resilience, and spirit have been truly inspiring. I hope your summer is filled with well-deserved rest, relaxation, and special moments with family and friends.
As we head into our final week of school, here are a few reminders:

With love and gratitude,
Mrs. Wheeler
