Weekly Principal Message - 26 Oct 2025

Good evening, Gladys West Families,

I hope everyone stayed warm on this chilly fall weekend!

First and foremost, thank you to everyone who donated candy, decorated a trunk, or attended our division-wide Trunk or Treat. It was a huge success, and we loved seeing all the creative costumes and happy faces. Events like these remind us just how special our GWES community is.

Looking for an easy dinner plan tomorrow night? Join us at Panera Bread in Central Park on Monday, October 27, 4:00-8:00 PM for our PTA fundraiser. Be sure to tell them you're there to support GWES, as a portion of your purchase will go right back to our school.

Report cards will be sent home on Thursday, October 30. Please take some time to review them with your student and celebrate their hard work. Teachers are also scheduling parent-teacher conferences for Monday, November 4. If you'd like to set up a conference, please reach out directly to your child's teacher.

Here are a couple of fun ways to connect with your students about what they're learning:

For our 5th grade families, ask your child to show how to convert an improper fraction into a mixed number. They've been working hard on fraction word problems this week!

For our Kindergarten families, ask your child to write a simple sentence using proper spacing. They've been practicing this important writing skill and are making great progress.

Finally, don't forget to check out this week's 🔗GWES Newsletter for more important dates, reminders, and upcoming events.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. Have a wonderful week ahead!

Warmly,

Mrs. Wheeler
