The Fredericksburg City School Board has a vacancy created by the September 8, 2025, relocation of the Ward 3 School Board member. Qualified voters of Ward 3 in Fredericksburg City who are interested in seeking appointment to this position are encouraged to apply. The interim appointment will begin upon appointment on October 6, 2025, and continue through December 31, 2025.
Applicants must submit both (1) a Statement of Interest not to exceed 500 words and (2) a resume to Brina Settles, Clerk of the Fredericksburg City School Board, at bsettles@cityschools.com no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025.
All application materials submitted will be made available to the public on the Fredericksburg City School Board website by Tuesday, September 16, 2025, and will remain available until the appointment is made. To protect applicant privacy, phone numbers and email addresses will be redacted before posting.
As part of our effort to ensure transparency, all School Board discussion of applicants will occur in open session. Members of the public will have an opportunity to provide input at a special meeting on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. At that meeting, the School Board will announce the names of all persons being considered for appointment.
The appointment will be finalized at the regular meeting on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.

September 22, 5:00 PM: Special meeting to receive public comment and announce applicants
October 6, 6:30 PM: Appointment of new interim School Board member (member takes office upon appointment)
October 6–December 31, 2025: Term of interim member
