Birthday & Holiday Card Contest

Fredericksburg City Public Schools is now accepting birthday and holiday card design submissions from currently-enrolled students in grades PreK-12. All FCPS students are invited to submit art for the Card Design Contest.

One winner will be selected for each card, and those artists will be recognized at an upcoming School Board Meetings and receive cards for personal use. Winning entries will be published on the division website.

FCPS Holiday Cards will be sent to all division employees and numerous other recipients. Throughout the school year every FCPS employee receives a Birthday Card from the Superintendent.

Students are encouraged to completely fill the page but keep the design simple, using as many colors as they want. Students may use watercolors, colored paper, magic markers, crayons or a combination of those items. Pencil drawings and fabric drawings are not suitable for our printing process and will not be selected.

Contest Guidelines:

  • The Holiday Card design must illustrate a representation of the winter season and refrain from mentioning any holiday related salutations. (For example:  Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, etc.)  Entries cannot include copyrighted images including trademarked cartoon characters.

  • The Birthday Card Design does not necessarily need to refence a birthday.  The design can be a best piece of art illustration.

  • All artwork entries should be no larger than 8.5" x 11" in size.

  • Contest is open to all currently enrolled FCPS students.

  • A student may submit one entry per category.

  • Students may also submit a photograph that they have taken. Be sure to include a brief description of the photo.

  • Students may also submit a photograph of a piece of art that they have created. For example, a sculpture or 3-D artwork.

  • Students must include their homeroom/teacher's name, grade, and teacher's name when submitting entries.

  • Digital artwork and photographs should be sent in a high-resolution format.

Entry Deadline: March 22, 2024

Entries may be sent via email to awilson@cityschools.com, inter-office mail, or dropped off to Angela Wilson in Central Office.
