On January 16, the Martin Luther King (MLK) Day of Service, over 80 students at the University of Mary Washington (UMW) spent their afternoon giving back to different organizations in the Fredericksburg community. One of the UMW student-run organizations created fleece blankets and filled hygiene supply bags for students in Fredericksburg City Public Schools. In total, the students made 32 blankets and prepared 80 bags for students at Hugh Mercer Elementary, Lafayette Elementary, and Walker-Grant Middle School. Three members of the Community Outreach and Resources (COAR) and a UMW sponsor for the organization delivered the blankets and bags to the schools. We are incredibly grateful for our community partners like COAR and UMW.
