As part of the Fredericksburg City Public Schools’ continuous improvement efforts, we are in the process of identifying and defining the division’s mission and vision to align with current School Board goals and the Fredericksburg City Public School’s Comprehensive Plan 2022-2027.

 

We believe the identification of the mission and vision should be a collaborative engagement process. To that end, we are creating a representative and inclusive workgroup to meet four times to participate in discussion and activities. 

 

• The mission is a statement of our "why" - why our schools exist. Setting the mission helps the division establish priorities and guide critical decision-making. 

• The vision is what the division and overall Fredericksburg's school community must become in order to accomplish our "why."  The vision provides a sense of direction for continuous improvement and achieving the reality of our mission.

 

Driving this important effort will be the FCPS Mission & Vision Workgroup made up of staff, administrators, and community members. We are currently seeking individuals to serve on this workgroup. 

 

The FCPS Mission & Vision Workgroup will meet several times over the next few months, and we are planning to launch our first meeting on Monday, November 28, from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Walker-Grant Center, 210 Ferdinand Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401. At the end of this process, the workgroup will present a mission and vision statement to the School Board for approval.
