Gifted Education Services

Fredericksburg City Public Schools recognizes that every child has unique talents, interests and learning needs and that these gifted needs extend across all cultural groups, across all economic strata, and in all areas of human endeavors.  It is our responsibility to discover, nurture, and develop each student’s potential.  Therefore, services for identified gifted students complement our innovative educational programs and aim to be commensurate with these diverse needs and abilities.

Fredericksburg City Public Schools is committed to identifying gifted students from all cultural and socio-economic backgrounds through grade twelve using multiple criteria.   Our programs are designed to provide these students with services that challenge them to expand their critical and creative thinking abilities.   Specifically, our IB World Schools, offer 3 programs for our students to qualify for and participate in: General Intellectual, Visual Arts and Performing Arts.  These programs are designed to provide opportunities where the intellectual, emotional, and social growth of all identified students is fostered.

If you have questions and/or would like to learn more about Gifted Services, please contact your child’s school or the Director of Curriculum and Instruction (Kecia Lipscomb) at 540-372-1130.
