Human Resources Department

Mission Statement

The mission of the Human Resources Department is to ensure that our students are served by the most highly qualified, enthusiastic, committed staff who will provide a high quality education that meets students’ current needs and prepares them for a successful future.  In addition to acquiring staff the Human Resources Department is committed to retaining them by providing continued support, professional development, and a positive working environment.

Fredericksburg City Public Schools is unique in the fact that it is located in a town of ten square miles with five school buildings.  Our central office houses the Head Start program, Virginia Preschool Initiative, and Early Childhood Special Education programs.  Hugh Mercer Elementary School and Lafayette Elementary School are our two elementary schools.  Our one middle school, Walker-Grant Middle School feeds James Monroe High School.  Our make-up fosters a family environment with appreciation for the unique qualities of each student.

Fredericksburg City Public Schools is in a small, historic town located close to the amenities of Richmond and Washington, D. C.  The city offers a diverse community including folks native to town as well as those who have relocated as a part of the University of Mary Washington or near-by military facilities.  Fredericksburg, Richmond, and Washington offer historical, educational, fine arts, as well as recreational opportunities.  In very little time one can be at a zoo or museum in Washington, one of the many theaters or museums in Richmond, in a historical park in Fredericksburg, or one of the many quaint shops or restaurants in downtown Fredericksburg.
